#9 Sharks Capture the SSC Championship

NSU wins program's seventh SSC title

HOWEY-IN-THE-HILLS, Fla. – The ninth-ranked Nova Southeastern University Women's Golf team won the Sunshine State Conference Championship at Mission Resort + Club's Colinas Course on Tuesday. The Sharks (+16/369/363/365), led by Ariana Carvalho (T-2nd/+2) brought home the program's seventh conference title, the first since 2018. Maria Torres (T-4th/+4) and Lua Pousa Dacasa (T-4th/+4) both placed inside the top five.

How it Happened

  • Ariana Carvalho (T-2nd/71/75/72) began day three of the tournament by shooting par or better on the opening eight holes with a birdie. On the back nine Carvalho tallied six pars and a birdie, shooting bogey free for the final five holes. Carvalho finished the tournament two-over and in a tied for second place. 

  • Lua Pousa Dacasa (T-4th/74/73/70) had her best day of the tournament with 12 consecutive holes resulting in a par or better as she collected a birdie on the eighth hole. Pousa Dacasa added two birdies and two pars to her final day total as she finished the tournament four-over and tied for fourth. 

  • Maria Torres (T-4th/74/70/73) shot a birdie and five pars through the front nine. After hitting the turn Torres parred consecutive holes, adding in two birdies. She finished the day with three pars. Torres placed in a tie for fourth at four-over. 

  • Haruka Muta (T-10th/75/73/74) parred three of the first five holes for the day, finding her shot on the seventh as she parred or birdied ten straight holes. Muta finished the tournament nine-over with a top ten placement.  

  • Rosanna Halls (T-22nd/78/72/76) tallied two birdies and nine pars in her final round, finishing the tournament 13-over.
